Footing — Privacy Policy

Footing ("the App") is operated by the developer (Huan Xu). This document explains what data Footing collects, why, and how we handle it.

TL;DR

Footing does not collect or transmit your calculations, project data, customer info, or quote PDFs to our servers.
Optional iCloud sync uses your private iCloud database, not ours. We never see this data.
We don't use ads, analytics, or third-party trackers.

What Footing stores

All app data is stored on your device:

Calculation history (in app sandbox)
Jobs, materials, customer info (in app sandbox)
Quotes and quote PDFs (in app sandbox)
App preferences (UserDefaults)

If you enable iCloud sync (Settings → optional toggle), your jobs and quotes also sync via your own private iCloud account. We have no access to your iCloud container.

What Footing does NOT do

❌ Send data to our servers
❌ Use analytics SDKs (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude)
❌ Track you across apps
❌ Display advertising
❌ Sell or share data

Third-party services

Footing uses these Apple-provided services only:

iCloud / CloudKit — for optional cross-device sync. Your data only.
StoreKit — for purchase verification. Apple handles billing.
App Store Connect — for crash reports if you opt in via iOS Settings → Privacy → Analytics & Improvements. We see aggregated crash signatures only.

Customer data on quotes

If you enter customer information (name, address, phone, email) into Jobs or Quotes, that data is stored locally and synced via your private iCloud (if enabled). We never see it.

When you share a quote PDF via Email / Messages / etc., the data leaves Footing through Apple's standard share sheet. We are not involved in that transmission.

Children's privacy

Footing is rated 4+ but is designed for adult tradespeople. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

We will update this URL if anything changes. We will not retroactively reduce your privacy.
